Article provided by Chairman Colin Dunn
The Club was first formed back in May 2007 by myself, Vince and Anthony Bollado as Killingworth Sporting FC. Our home was at Amberley Playing Fields in Killingworth and we were
the senior team to the large junior section of Killingworth Young Peoples Club. The three
of us grew up in Killingworth New Town as it was known then and played for Killingworth’s
first junior team in the early seventies affectionately managed by a guy named “fat Pat”!
T
hen onto the eighties with Killingworth
Social Club on a Sunday morning, The
Station Pub on the Sunday afternoon and
playing for Killingworth Arm’s FC and so
on. (Yes some of us did play twice on a
Sunday!) Sunday football has always been
strong in the Killingworth area but a good
quality sustainable Saturday Club has
always been missing and the many good
local footballers in the Killingworth area
would ply their trade elsewhere. Myself,
Vince and Anthony, with the help of ex
local footballer’s Paul Rudd and Michael
Bell, set out to change that image and give
Killingworth a real Saturday team to talk
about.
In our first season we won the Northern
Football Alliance 2nd Division title, losing

only one game all season. The year after
we won the Division 1 title and then into the
Northern Football Alliance Premier League.
We have won the Northumberland Senior
Benevolent Bowl twice in 2012 with then
Manager Davy Taylor and Coach George
Mooney and again in 2014 managed by
Barry Donnelly and coach Richy Latimer.
We have managed to establish ourselves
in the Northern football Alliance Premier
Division in the last five years coming close
to challenging for the title last season and
then finishing in a creditable third spot.
The most challenging part of my job is club
funding. To attract people to come, enjoy
and watch us is so important to me. I try to
ensure that the presentation of the club is
of a high standard and the spectators feel
part of the club and feel welcomed. I have
to say they always do down at our new
ground at Westmoor Community Centre on
Benton Lane.
It is most rewarding to hear some of our
older and wiser supporters express their
opinion about certain players over a bovril
at half time. However, putting a game on
does have its costs, we charge £1 entry
which includes a match day programme.
To attract sponsorship and funding we
changed our club name from Killingworth
Sporting FC to Killingworth Station FC (The
Station Pub being our current main sponsor
in 2013). This season we have been lucky
to be sponsored by five local businesses:
