OPTION 2: A Cash Bar
Well, while we hate to state the obvious, a cash bar is going to be less of a strain on your budget and will free up funds for other things you may want to have for your wedding (and it is your big day after all). There is also the likelihood that whilst some guests would have been very excited by the prospect of a free bar, they may now drink more responsibility as it is their hard-earned money buying their own drinks! Of course, they could become disgruntled if the drink prices are sky high and they are left nursing that shandy for the next two hours as they can’t afford another! This is definitely something to consider when choosing your venue if you are having a cash bar – your quaint and rustic local may charge £3.50 per pint, whereas the luxury hotel down the road could be charging £7.00. The result could be your guests leaving a little bit sooner which could cut the party a bit short.
