Boston-based artist Shelley Reed gives a tour through Animal Instinct: Paintings by Shelley
Reed. Hear from the artist herself about her inspiration and process. Cap off the tour with
a champagne toast, then join us for a reception with hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar to share
your thoughts with Reed and your fellow museum-goers. $35 / $20 for members.
Kress Anniversary Lecture Series: Rebekah Compton Friday, August 29 | Noon
Rebekah Compton, assistant professor of Renaissance and Baroque art at the College of
Charleston, lectures on “The Glory of Color: Pigments in Early Florentine Altarpieces.”
Compton explores the glorious colors of Giovanni di Marco dal Ponte’s Madonna and Child
with Saints, paying particular attention to how the artist paints the flesh and clothing of his
sacred characters. Free with membership or admission.
A New Season for Music Comes to the CMA

CMA Jazz
on Main
returns for its second season in September. Enjoy this exciting series of
amazing, hot jazz performances, under the artistic direction of internationally
renowned band leader Noel Freidline, in the elegant setting of the DuBosePoston Reception Hall. Season tickets are $130 / $90 for members.

“CMA Jazz on Main” is excited to announce that it will kick off its
season with a performance by jazz saxophonist and flutist Nelson
Rangell. The Times of London notes “his extraordinary facility on a
range of instruments and his undoubted virtuosity.” Such praise is a
confirmation of what contemporary jazz fans have known since the
Denver-based saxophonist emerged in the late 80s: that Rangell is
one of the most exciting and diverse performers in the genre. Nelson

CMA Chamber
Music on Main
returns for a new season in October. Music plus
art equals a magical experience with this critically
acclaimed chamber concert series featuring worldrenowned artistic director Edward Arron and intimately set in the Museum’s gorgeous
DuBose-Poston Reception Hall. Arron has garnered recognition worldwide for his elegant
musicianship, impassioned performances, and creative programming. The cellist made his
New York recital debut in 2000 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Season tickets are
