The team’s design elements are imbued in colour, bold forms
and playful textures that have the ability to redefine space.
Recently, Janna Watson had presented her massive painting
commissioned for Aura, North America’s tallest residential
building. Together they have also just wrapped up a collective
show at Craft Ontario, and with features in numerous publications, the duo’s work continues to gain more recognition for
their craft. The two artisans behind Watson Soule, have had
their hands submerged in both art and design, and it has been
an exciting and busy year at their studio. Based out of Toronto’s
401 Richmond building, is the home where their rugs are designed and manufactured. The rugs are hand tufted as an original piece of art by the same hands that envisioned the design.
Watson Soule focuses on high end crafted objects, superior
natural materials, and ethical industry practices while striving
to contribute to a beautiful, functional and richer future. The
studio’s unique objective focuses on the balanced relationship
of sensibility, while consolidating an artistic approach alongside
contemporary design thought. In collaboration with Ali Ghassemi of Weaver & Loom, they are looking forward to expanding on their techniques, to expand their palettes, and to push
the boundaries of floor art. What do we expect to see in these
artisans’ future to come? Watson Soule are continuing to make
their mark and explore their appreciation in the authentic artistry and craftsmanship of rugs and interior design.
