SPOTLIGHT | DANIEL T. FISCHER
Literature meets film and animation in the stop-motion animated short, INDIGO,
that had its world premier at TIFF in 2014 as part of Short Cuts Canada. Screenwriter
on the project, Daniel T. Fischer, a Bramptonian and winner of the 2012 Harry Dale
Literary Award for Aspiring Writers from the Brampton Arts Council, worked with
creator and director Amanda Strong, a Brampton-born illustrator, photographer
and filmmaker who now splits her time between Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.
The film won the Best Canadian Short Drama award at imaginative Film & Media
Arts Festival 2014 in Toronto, and Best Short Film Award at Women’s International
Film & Television Showcase in Los Angeles. Daniel and Amanda are currently working on several untitled animated projects.
About INDIGO | Hand-crafted, stop-motion figures come to life in this dreamlike
tale inspired by Native mythology. A confined woman is liberated by a grandmother
spider while opaque memories are projected in an effort to restore her spirit as life
