Beautiful Britain 2014 | Page 2

welcome... Welcome to our third beautifulbritain report, showcasing real insights from you – the talented professionals working inside the UK’s hair and beauty industry. Firstly I’d like to say a big ‘thank you’ to the 2,222 people who took part in this year’s survey. With your help we’ve been able to build a comprehensive view of our industry as it is today and identify the trends of tomorrow. It’s no secret that it has been a challenging few years for the UK economy and our high streets, but this report shows that, despite the pressure, our industry remains dynamic and resilient. In fact, over the past 12 months you’ve told us that you have had to consistently adapt your offer for clients, reshape your business models and branch into new markets to continue to get customers through the door. This hard work has clearly paid off. As consumer spending finally starts to increase, tens of thousands of salons plan to take on more staff in 2014. And as an industry that already employs over 240,000 professionals, this is certainly something to celebrate. I hope that this report informs and inspires you as you continue to build your businesses. It’s designed to give you the clearest picture of our industry - from the activity of your peers to emerging trends - so you can spot opportunities for success and make decisions to help your business prosper. As always, Salon Services is here to support you and we look forward to working together in the year ahead.
