ACOMS Review - January 2017

ACOMS REVIEW

President ’ s Message Volume IX , ISSUE I , 2017
Dear Friends and Colleagues ,
Wishing you a happy new year full of prosperity , love , and health !
This year will bring about many potential changes , particularly with the policies of our new President of the United States . Despite differences in political beliefs , it is important that we recognize that as oral and maxillofacial surgeons and small business owners , we are community leaders and have a responsibility to uphold our institutions and empower them . Let us approach change with optimism and set a positive example during this historic moment in our country !
Our educational journey through 2017 will be a great one , as ACOMS has numerous educational opportunities available this year .
We begin on January 27 and 28 with the 12th Annual Hands-on Comprehensive Facial Cosmetic course in New Orleans . ACOMS ’ Past President Dr . Jon Perenack has put together an excellent course with topics including facelift , rhinoplasty , blepharoplasty , brow-lifting and skin rejuvenation . Highly-qualified speakers and hands-on sessions will make this course a wonderful opportunity to refresh concepts in facial cosmetic surgery .
From February 26 to March 3 , ACOMS will join with FACES to co-host the 30th Annual Winter Meeting in Steamboat Springs , Colorado . The meeting will feature a strong educational program while allowing plenty of time to enjoy the slopes . Various topics including dental implants , TMJ , and orthognathic and orthodontic therapy for skeletal facial deficiencies will be discussed , so be sure to register now !
ACOMS will also join the Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons ( CAOMS ) in the vibrant city of Vancouver for a Joint Annual Conference from May 3-5 . The meeting cochairs have done an incredible job securing world-renowned speakers in our specialty to support the educational program . Additionally , we will honor ACOMS W . Harry Archer Award Winner Dr . Jeffrey Posnick and CAOMS Founders ’ Memorial Lecturer Dr . Mark Devlin .
