2012 Troop Cookie Manager Guide

Girl Scout Troop #10268 of Memphis made special Birthday Bags for the children at Potter Children’s Home, an orphanage in Kentucky. The troop wanted to provide a special birthday celebration for each child there. Girls went door to door collecting items needed by the orphanage. Each girl also donated 3 sets of cake mix and icing. Troop funds earned through the Girl Scout Cookie Program paid for items to decorate the cakes, party decorations, and toys for the children. Girls also donated Girl Scout nuts for the bags. These girls are committed to service, and in addi- tion to making the Birthday Bags, they partnered with a Boy Scout Troop to provide Christmas bas- kets to needy families in Memphis. “It was very rewarding to see how excited the girls were to be able to help other children! I am very proud of our girls!!” Amy Albert, Girl Scout Troop Leader birthday bags Meet the Author: Shana Corey, Here Come the Girl Scouts!
