4 Corners
A Publication of Lauderdale County School District
VOLUME II ISSUE 1
The 2014-2015 school year is off to a great
start. I want to take this opportunity to welcome
all of our new teachers, administrators, parents,
and students. Lauderdale County Schools has
proven to be among the best in the state. We are
pleased you have chosen our district.
As we start a new year, it is a time to reflect and
ask “What is it we really want to accomplish?” In
Lauderdale County Schools, our goal is to prepare
students for life beyond high school. We want all
students to be ready for college or the world of
work when leaving our district. So, how do we
make it happen? First, we have to be committed
to ensuring students graduate. More than ever before counselors will take an active role in helping
students stay on track. For those who are not, we
must have interventions and support systems in
place to help them get there. Second, our students
must be equipped for the future job market. We
are preparing students today for jobs that have yet
to be created. As a result, students must be problem solvers and creative thinkers in order to compete in the global job market. Our vocational
courses are just one example of how we accomplish this. Finally, many students enter school already tech savvy. Access to technology within the
school day is essential. As a district, we have
made great strides in purchasing technology for
each campus as well as improving the infrastructure. But, we still have work to do.
It is an exciting time to be a part of this district.

Safe. Our young people face so many issues. One
of our goals as a district continues to be focused
on safety. Through this segment, we hope to keep
you informed of what we are doing, as well as community resources available. If you have not
