USA COVERS 2195 (9X1b) 1846 NEW YORK 5¢ BLACK, SIGNED ‘A.C.M.’ (NOT CONNECTED), TWO COVERS ....................... PH $500 Two folded letters, each franked with 9X1b: (1) to West Roxbury, MA, franked with single tied with blue pen strokes and tiny part red NEW YORK cds, matching red ‘PAID’ in arc at left, heavy file fold through stamp, otherwise very fine; and (2) cover to NC, franked with single with blue pen cancel, NY cds at side, margins clear to touching or just in on all four corners, just fine. Cat $1700. 2196 (1) 1847 FRANKLIN 5¢ RED BROWN, TWO SINGLES, ST. LOUIS TO NEW YORK CITY .............................. PH $900 Two singles tied with multiple strikes of red ‘St. LOUIS, Mo./ 10’ cds, to blue folded letter sheet to New York. Both stamps with rich color and impression, left stamp extremely fine showing tiny parts of adjacent stamps above & below, right stamp with huge margins to just in bottom right. Letter sheet with horizontal filing fold at bottom and tiny edge wear at top, fine to very fine, scarce and desirable. (1975 PF Cert #51 339). PH $600 Reportedly the only known 1847 usage from this historic town, to NH, franked with two overlapping singles, one fine, one very fine, with red grid cancels and faint Lewiston, NY, cds.
